America isn’t really familiar with gold at the Olympics: In five Olympics inclusions since baseball was first celebrated as a sport in 1992, the United States has only one gold medal on the mantle . they have medaled three times overall in five games, with two bronze medals in the trophy case along with gold.
With Olympic baseball taking a backseat for the past two Olympics, hardball is back with six entrants and a fun tournament starting July 27. the group stage will headline the tournament, with knockout stage standings determined by how group play finishes.

At the beginning of the tournament, most games of the US team. uu. they are not scheduled to be broadcast on cable networks. Only a select few games during the baseball tournament will be broadcast on cable television, on the usa network. uu. and cnbc.

In total, six teams qualified for a chance at a gold medal this year:

The actual Olympic tournament is a bit more complicated than its softball counterpart. Here’s how it breaks down:
group stage
The six teams will be divided into two groups: Group A (Japan, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic) and Group B (United States, Israel, and South Korea). the teams in their groups will play each other once, for a total of six games.
elimination stage
In the first three games, teams from opposing groups will play each other based on group play standings (a1 vs. b1, a2 vs. b2, a3 vs. b3). the loser of the game a3 vs b3 is eliminated from the tournament.
Otherwise, teams play each other in a double-elimination tournament until one team remains from the winners and losers bracket. those two teams will play each other in the gold medal game. the last two teams eliminated in the losing bracket will play the bronze medal match. 10 total games will be played in the knockout stage (including gold and bronze medal games) for 16 games in total.
