“stanford steve” cosslin and chris “the bear” phallic preview week 2 of the 2022 college football season like only they can, offering their best bets, pips and totals worth the bet. worth betting.

odds and lines are from caesars sportsbook unless otherwise noted.

Reading: Bear and stanford steve picks

records: the bear (last week: 3-1-1. season: 4-1-1) stanford steve (last week: 2-3 season: 2-3)

    the plays

appalachian state mountaineers at no. 6 texas a&m aggies (-19, 54)

the bear: the aggies weren’t great last week, and this is usually a time where I’d blow a team away with a big home game the following week, like a&m does with miami . But the Appalachian State nearly stunned North Carolina after appearing utterly defeated probably caught the attention of the Aggies. the mountaineers probably won’t find a&m’s defense as smooth as unc’s, and that could mean we get the beating we were about to get last week.

    choose: texas a&m -19

Marshall at No. 8 Notre Dame (-20.5, 48)

Bear: It might be a stretch to expect the pack to go south bend and win, but I think the irishman might start off a bit flat after last week’s effort at columbus. I don’t expect the irish to put up a lot of points… let’s say notre dame puts up 38, i think qb henry colombi and marshall’s offense are good at putting up 21 and covering that three td number.

    choose: marshall +20.5

no. 10 usc trojans (-8.5, 67.5) in cardinal stanford

stanford steve: Both teams got the job done last week, each scoring 40-plus points against lesser competitors in non-conference play. this matchup, I feel, leans towards the Trojans when you watch the movie. The number of toys Caleb Williams has to play with on Lincoln Riley’s offense is plentiful, and the team’s speed for Stanford’s defense doesn’t look too good. the other problem is that stanford’s d-line lacks what it needs to disrupt trojans. can stanford keep up with usc’s offense? The Cardinal sure has a capable offense, led by QB Tanner McKee, but I think the Trojans have too much. I’ll put the points with the road team.

    choose: usc -8.5 (usc 41, stanford 24)

akron zippers in no. 14 Michigan State Spartans (-34.5, 56)

the bear: akron’s opener was ugly; There’s no way to avoid it. but catching about five tds against a michigan state team that led western michigan 21-13 entering the fourth quarter last week and has a test drive in washington next week has me in joe moorhead’s group for a ugly cover of holding your nose.

    choose: akron +34.5

gold flashes of the state of kent at no. 7 before oklahoma (-33.5, 72.5)

stanford steve: taking over the oklahoma games could become a weekly thing. oklahoma scored 45 last week, while kent state dropped 45. i’ll take care of it.

choose: greater than 72.5 (oklahoma 55, kent state 20)

    No. 20 Kentucky at No. 12 Florida (-6, 52)

bear: the cats have everyone back except rb chris rodriguez jr. And that’s huge because that means Jordan Wright is back for the UK defense. should have a big impact on slowing down florida qb anthony richardson. This is the kind of game Mark Stoops lives for: being an underdog against a team he’s had success against. the fact that this number has reached six, i will eliminate kentucky vs alligator from a physical and emotional upset in utah.

    choose: kentucky +6

Stanford Steve and The Bear - Week 2 college football picks, bets and nuggetsStanford Steve and The Bear - Week 2 college football picks, bets and nuggets

Mississippi State Bulldogs (-10.5, 60) at Arizona Wildcats

the bear: i think last week’s result might be more in line with the state of san diego being bad, rather than arizona being so good. This number has dropped somewhat, and Arizona looks like a public underdog. I like that. I don’t think Arizona’s passing game will have the kind of success it did last week, and the Wildcats will also face a much better offense this week.

    choose: mississippi state -10.5

stanford steve: how can you not be excited about mike leach and his bulldogs heading to tucson for a late kickoff against the wildcats? will rogers was fantastic last week in a weather-delayed win over memphis, throwing for 450 yards and five touchdowns, while arizona pulled off the upset against the aztecs thanks to their quarterback, washington state transfer jayden de laura , who threw for 299 yards and four TDs. You know things will get weird late at night in Tucson. we’ll take care of it.

choose: over 60 (state of mississippi 45, arizona 28)

Boston College Eagles at Virginia Tech Hokies (-2.5, 46)

See also: Pectus excavatum – Symptoms and causes – Mayo Clinic

stanford steve: both teams are coming off tough losses; BC blew a fourth-quarter lead at home to Rutgers, and Virginia Tech lost in Old Dominance. and both are looking to get it right in a conference game. But it feels like neither man is strong on the offensive end of the ball, as the Eagles only rushed 29 yards and Vatech turned the ball over five times. therefore, the expectation is that it will be a low scoring, highly contested affair. i think eagles wide receiver zay flowers will be the best player on the field and make a difference. I stay with the road team to get the points.

choose: boston university +2.5 (boston university 21, virginia tech 20)

Kansas Jayhawks at West Virginia Mountaineers

The last time Ku was a favorite in a Big 12 game was in 2009 against Kansas State when Mark Mangino was still the coach. however, things are looking up. This is the first time Ku is a ‘dog under 14 points in a big 12 game since 2019, when he lost 38-10 to Kansas State.
