Although Link defeats both Veran and Onox, a cutscene reveals the flame of despair being lit thanks to Twinrova’s efforts. The power of the triforce begins to illuminate in Link’s left hand, filling his health to maximum, followed by Din and Nayru appearing to offer a few words of encouragement as Link is teleported to the Ritual Hall, the base where Twinrova holds Twinrova. princess zelda captive.
The link appears in the first area above an altar that contains a portal that leads to the maku tree. it is strongly recommended that if you don’t have a magic potion, at least the l-2 sword and a useful magic ring to increase link’s defense or attack (the best ones are the red ring and the blue ring), that you carry the portal of return to the mainland and look for these items. From the altar, go down the steps and up a screen. the following rooms present a very simple recurring puzzle to find which room to go to next. just head to the room where the purple statues’ eyes aren’t focused once they settle.
After six successful passes, a chime will indicate that Link has passed the test and reached the hallway where Zelda is being held captive. Go up a screen and up the altar to Zelda, who will be teleported by a strange magic into a link to a large, open room with Twinrova.
After a few words from Twinrova, a cutscene will show Zelda lying on the altar from before, the flames of pain, destruction, and despair turning deep blue, signaling that the final step of her plan has taken place. started. when the cutscene returns to the room with twinrova, the battle will begin.
While flying around the room, Koume and Kotake will periodically fire an Elemental Orb at Link. try using the roc’s feather or cloak to avoid these attacks, as well as jumping out of the way of the twinrova themselves. getting hit by one of these orbs will take a full heart off of link’s health, while contact damage will take half (assuming no defense boost ring is used).
using link’s sword, the orbs must be knocked down and make contact with the opposing witch to damage twinrova. as its movement is random, as is the orb that will be fired at the link, this first phase can often be the hardest to beat. Twinrova shares health, however, and will be defeated after only three successful hits. a good strategy, if he’s in trouble, would be to stand in the bottom left or right corner of the room and aim your shots as the witches pass by. while he is standing in these places, neither of the two witches will connect by flying, removing the threat of contact damage from bosses.
when koume and kotake are defeated, they will combine into a single being, known simply by their collective name of twinrova, for the second phase of the battle. twinrova will assume a fire or ice form, alternating whenever she is damaged or has spent enough time in a form.
In her ice form, twinrova will generate spiked ice blocks and send them sliding across a slippery, icy floor. These blocks cannot be destroyed, so they must be avoided, all while Twinrova moves around the room, often stopping to fire an ice orb at Link (however, her ice orb can be destroyed with the sword). While she is in her fire form, Twinrova has two attacks that she will choose at random, all while moving through a room that now has several pools of lava scattered on the floor. An attack sees Twinrova spawn four unique fire keese around her before sending them towards the link. her other attack is simply shooting a small link of flames that is easy to avoid. however, the fireball will bounce off any wall it comes in contact with as three small orbs.
Strategically, the roc’s feather, cloak, and sword combination is again recommended, as it allows him to maintain control over link’s movement, attempting to move for an attack, while jumping to avoid twinrova’s own attacks. In either form, Link must strike Twinrova with his sword (four hits or two spin attacks with the Noble Sword L-2, four spin attacks with the Wooden Sword L-1) until it appears to be coming apart. at this point take out the seed launcher or slingshot equipped with mysterious seeds and fire twinrova to damage it. During its fire form, Twinrova’s Fire Keese can be defeated with the sword for more health or seeds, though what they drop is random, making this method of health recovery somewhat unreliable. a good strategy might be to simply avoid attacking twinrova altogether during her fire form due to possible recoil on lava pools, as well as leaving the opportunity to focus on fire keese for the chance they have of dropping recovery hearts .
When Twinrova’s second form is defeated, her dark ritual to revive Ganon will stop. Seemingly lacking the energy to complete the ritual, Zelda will be spared the sacrifice, but Twinrova will offer her own body as a vessel for the evil king to return. A cutscene will reveal what appears to be Ganon’s essence being absorbed by Twinrova, followed by Ganon’s fateful resurrection.
Probably due to the ritual not completing as planned, the resurrected Ganon will be insane and mindless, driven only by the desire to destroy. this alone will make it much more dangerous, and possibly more difficult, than any previous version of ganon.
ganon has a total of five attacks along with the ability to disappear and teleport around the room. One attack causes Ganon to simply hit Link with his trident, a move that is easily avoided as his posture while reforming reveals Ganon’s intentions. A second attack sees Ganon summon four orbs from his trident that will fly in opposite directions, each splitting into three smaller orbs as they scatter. His third attack involves Ganon shooting large orbs from his mouth at Link.
On his fourth attack, Ganon will launch into the air and crash to the ground, creating an earthquake that will stun Link if he isn’t airborne at the moment of impact. make sure you have the roc’s cloak/feather ready for this move and jump the instant Ganon lands, but be aware that he will still fire a powerful explosive link regardless of the success of his first move. The fifth attack is usually only used later in battle and sees Ganon turn the room into a series of swirling blue waves as he attempts to walk and shoot orbs at Link. during this attack all directional controls will be reversed which makes it very easy to take massive damage like nowhere else in the game does this sort of thing happen to prepare you for such a task. It’s more useful to just avoid Ganon as much as possible here, using the roc’s feather/cloak to avoid his explosions, until the threat passes.
Even with the Noble Sword L-2, it will take a spin attack to damage Ganon, but it can be damaged with a single hit if Link has acquired the Legendary Master Sword L-3. It is often best to hold a charged spin attack ahead of time to hit Ganon after he launches one of his attacks, during which he is vulnerable for a moment before teleporting away again. After Ganon has taken enough damage, the evil king will be defeated, ending Twinrova’s ultimate plans once and for all.
With Ganon destroyed, go up the stairs in the lower right corner of the room. the link will be at the altar where zelda takes place. Approach and try to talk to Princess Zelda, who will wake up from her dream and thank Link for restoring peace to the world once more. Soon after, Twinrova’s castle will begin to crumble around Link and Zelda, who will be safely teleported to their area by the Maku Tree.
din, nayru, and impa will be waiting to welcome you and congratulate link on his efforts. After a sweet gesture from the princess to the hero, the credits roll as cutscenes reveal peace returning to Link’s closest companions. Din will return to the forest to dance among the animals, Nayru and Ralph will be shown walking through a town full of playful children, the three pet animals, Moosh, Dimitri and Ricky, will return to enjoy their own adventures, and the princess will show herself Zelda looking at the night sky from a balcony in Hyrule Castle.
A final scene shows Link sailing away from Hyrule once more on his next great adventure. once the final cutscene has passed, the player will be granted a new secret password known as the hero’s secret. With this secret, you can start Link’s adventure anew in the Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons. when used to start a first mission in the game you just completed the second mission, you can play the games in the opposite order and also use ring secrets to transfer all rings obtained so far. this will make it possible to eventually get all the magic rings between both games and achieve a true 100% completion.
